Canterbury Cottage was built in 1900 for Frank Whitmore, the station master for the Maine Central Railroad Ferry Service which operated from Bar Harbor's town pier. It was designed by Fred Savage, an architect who planned many of the larger "cottages" on the island. This house was one of the three year round homes he designed on Mount Desert Island. |
