Canterbury Cottage was built in 1900 for Frank Whitmore, the station master for the Maine Central Railroad Ferry Service which operated from Bar Harbor's town pier. It was designed by Fred Savage, an architect who planned many of the larger "cottages" on the island. This house was one of the three year-round homes he designed on Mount Desert Island.

Enjoy a delicious, elegantly served full breakfast in the morning, plus beverages, fruit, and snacks available all day long.

The Cottage is located within easy walking distance to the quaint shops and restaurants along the village streets and the busy harbor. The breathtaking beauty of Acadia National Park and all the activities it offers are just a five minute drive from our door. When the day's adventures are done, you can socialize, read, or just relax in our comfortable living room.
