You may want to begin your exploration of Acadia National Park here at the Hulls Cove Visitor Center just off Route 3 in Bar Harbor. The entrance is a short distance on the right after the Hulls Cove inlet. There are ample publications, activity schedules, and a film for reference and purchase. Every half hour, a free 15 minute audiovisual program is shown and is available in English, French, German, audio description and captioned. There are self-guiding CD tours for rent or purchase if desired. If you do not have a CD player one may be rented as well. There are also ranger-led activities available. If interested, ask for a schedule of talks, walks, hikes, boat cruises, children's activities, and evening programs. Since this location is run by the National Park Service, profits from items purchased here help support the operations of the Park.
